Installation Procedure

  1. Install the ignition switch (2) to the I/P retainer.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Through the opening next to the steering column, install the ignition switch fastener (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fastener to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  5. Through the radio opening, install the ignition switch fasteners (1, 4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fastener to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the park lock cable (1) to the ignition switch.
  8. Connect the ignition switch electrical connectors.
  9. Install the lamp socket to the ignition switch.

  11. With the key installed in the ignition lock cylinder (1) insert the ignition lock cylinder (1) into the I/P opening (2).

    The lock cylinder retaining tab (3) will produce an audible click, when fully engaged.

  12. Using light force, pull on the lock cylinder in order to ensure the lock cylinder is engaged.
  13. Turn the ignition to LOCK, then remove the key.
  14. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U45) or Radio Replacement (U1R, UL6, UM5, UM9) in Entertainment.
  15. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  16. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 in SIR.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  18. Inspect the ignition switch for proper operation in all positions.
  19. Release the park brake.
