1 Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Audible Warnings

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.
Does the chime activate?		 - Go to Step 3  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the Instrument Panel Module (IPM) Non HVAC Data data list.
Does the Key In Ignition parameter display No?		 - Go to Step 5  Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter.
Does the Key In Ignition parameter display No?		 - Go to Step 8  Go to Step 7

  1. Turn the headlamp switch OFF.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Park Lamp parameter and the Head Lamp Switch parameter in the Dash Integration Module (DIM) Inputs data list.
Does the Park Lamp parameter or the Head Lamp Switch parameter display On?		 - Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems in Lighting Systems Go to Step 6

  1. Close the driver door.
  2. Disconnect the amplifier.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a DMM, measure the AC voltage between the chime bit module 1 and the chime bit module 2.
Does the DMM display the specified AC voltage?		 0.6-0.7 V Go to Step 10  Go to Step 11 
7 Test the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 16  Go to Step 9 
8 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 16  Go to Step 12 
9 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 16  Go to Step 13 
10 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the amplifier. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 16  Go to Step 14 
11 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 16  Go to Step 15 
12 Replace the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement (LHD)  or Ignition Switch Replacement (RHD) .
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 16  -

IMPORTANT: Perform the setup procedure for the replacement IPM.
Replace the IPM. Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement (LHD) or Instrument Panel Module Replacement (RHD) in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 16  -
14 Replace the amplifier. Refer to Amplifier Replacement (UX9) or Amplifier Replacement (w/o UX9) in Entertainment.
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 16  -
15 Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (U45) or Radio Replacement (U1R, UL6, UM5, UM9) in Entertainment.
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 16  -
16 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 - System OK Go to Step 2
