Removal Procedure

NOTE: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Remove the driver side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Disconnect the clutch pedal position switch electrical connector.

  3. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod from the clutch pedal pin.

  4. Remove the clutch fluid reservoir retaining bolt.
  5. Remove the clutch fluid reservoir from the fender reinforcement.
    6. IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to drain the coolant or disconnect the coolant lines from the surge tank.
  6. Remove the coolant surge tank mounting bolts and position the coolant surge tank out of the way. Refer to Surge Tank Replacement (LHD M 35) and/or Surge Tank Replacement (RHD) and/or Surge Tank Replacement (LHD M 82 LY7) and/or Surge Tank Replacement (LHD M 82) and/or Surge Tank Replacement (LHD M35 LS6) and/or Surge Tank Replacement (LS6) in Engine Cooling.

    IMPORTANT: Install a rubber cap over the exposed hose fitting in order to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  7. Remove the spring retainer and disconnect the clutch hydraulic hose. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Hose/Pipe Replacement (CTS-V)  and/or Hydraulic Clutch Hose/Pipe Replacement (CTS) .

  8. Rotate the clutch master cylinder clockwise 1/8 turn.
  9. Remove the clutch master cylinder from the cowl.
  10. Remove the clutch pedal position switch from the clutch master cylinder. Refer to Clutch Pedal Position Switch Replacement .
