Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the water crossover. Refer to Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement (LA3, LY9) in Engine Cooling.
  3. Fig 1: Identifying Ports To The Cylinder Head

  4. Remove the following from the engine oil cooler:
    • The oil cooler inlet fitting
    • The oil cooler outlet fitting

  6. Note the positioning of the 4 seals.
  7. Remove the oil cooler lines from the engine. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement .

  9. Remove the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts (1).
  10. Remove the engine oil cooler cover bolts (2).

  12. Remove the engine oil cooler cover.
  13. Remove the engine oil cooler from the engine.
  14. Clean the cylinder block mating surfaces.
  15. Clean and inspect the oil cooler. Refer to Oil Cooler Cleaning and Inspection .
