Installation Procedure

Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of GM P/N 12378521(Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover.
Position the engine oil cooler to the engine.
Apply thread adhesive GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 109534382) to the engine oil cooler cover bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts (2).
Tighten: Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts in sequence to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
Install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts (1).
Tighten: Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
Position the oil cooler line fittings to the oil cooler.

Install the oil cooler inlet and outlet fittings to the engine oil cooler.
Use 4 new seals.

Tighten:
- Tighten the oil cooler inlet fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the oil cooler outlet fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
Install the oil cooler lines to the engine. Refer to Oil Cooler Line Replacement .
Install the water crossover. Refer to Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement (LA3, LY9) in Engine Cooling.
Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
