Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the camshaft drive sprockets. Refer to Camshaft Drive Sprocket Replacement .
  2. Fig 1: Removing & Installing Timing Belt Tensioner Locking Nut, Washer & Pulley

  3. Remove the timing belt tensioner locking nut, washer and pulley.

  5. Disconnect the knock sensor pigtail (1) from the bracket.
  6. IMPORTANT: The knock sensor pigtail is guided past the rear timing belt cover by several retaining clips.
    Note the positioning of the knock sensor pigtail.
  7. Remove the knock sensor pigtail from the retaining clips on the rear timing belt cover.

  9. Remove the rear timing belt cover bolts.
  10. Remove the rear timing belt cover threaded pin (1).
  11. Remove the rear timing belt cover.
