Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right .
  2. Remove the right camshaft drive sprockets. Refer to Camshaft Drive Sprocket Replacement .

  4. Alternately loosen the camshaft bearing cap bolts a few turns at a time using the loosening sequence.
  5. Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts.

  7. Remove the camshaft bearing caps. Note the code marks on the bearing caps (L1, L2, L3, etc.).

    The bearing caps for the right cylinder head is marked with an L, followed by a number.

  8. Remove the camshafts from the cylinder head.
  9. Remove the camshaft seals.
  10. Clean all of the bearing surfaces.
  11. Clean all of the sealing surfaces.
  12. Clean and inspect the camshafts. Refer to Camshaft and Bearings Cleaning and Inspection .
