Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
  2. Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (LS6) in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the air conditioning belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Air Conditioning .
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Accessory .
  5. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement (LS6) in Engine Electrical.
  6. Remove the oil pan-to-front cover bolts (1).

  7. Remove the front cover bolts.
  8. Remove the front cover and gasket.
  9. Discard the front cover gasket.
  10. Clean and inspect the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Cleaning and Inspection .
