Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Fuel and EVAP Pipe Caution in Cautions and Notices.

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.

  3. Disconnect the vacuum supply line quick-connect fittings at the intake manifold and the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  4. Remove the vacuum supply EVAP pipe.
  5. Cap the intake manifold pipe and the EVAP canister purge valve in order to prevent possible contamination.

  7. Disconnect the EVAP engine purge pipe from the line connection (2) at the right rear cylinder head. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  8. Disconnect the left bank coil electrical connection to gain access to the EVAP purge valve.
  9. Disconnect the EVAP pipe from the purge valve. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  10. Remove the EVAP engine purge pipe from under the fuel rail.
