Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Installation - Left Exhaust

  1. Ensure the proper camshaft position actuator is installed. Observe the body of the camshaft position actuator for the "EX" marking (1). The marking is for an exhaust camshaft position actuator.
  2. Ensure the proper timing mark is used. Observe the outer ring of the camshaft position actuator for the "L" and circle marking (3). The marking is for alignment to the highlighted timing chain link on the left side of the engine.

  3. NOTE: Refer to Torque Reaction Against Timing Drive Chain Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Use an open wrench on the hex cast into the camshaft in order to prevent camshaft rotation when tightening the camshaft position actuator bolt.

  6. Install the left exhaust camshaft position actuator.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the camshaft position actuator bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the camshaft position actuator bolt to 58 N.m (43 lb ft).
