Camshaft Cover Installation - Right

Tools Required

  1. Remove the EN 46105-1 from the rear of the right camshafts.

  3. Install the EN 46101  onto the spark plug tubes of the right cylinder head.

  5. Install the camshaft cover bolt grommets prior to installing the camshaft cover bolts.
  6. Wipe the camshaft cover sealing surface on the right cylinder head with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  8. Place a bead 8 mm (0.3150 in) in diameter by 4 mm (0.1575 in) in height of RTV sealant, GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent, on the engine front cover split lines (1).

  10. Place the right camshaft cover into position onto the right cylinder head.

  12. Loosely install the right camshaft cover bolts.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  14. Tighten the right camshaft cover bolts in the sequence shown.

    Tighten:  Tighten the right camshaft cover bolts in the sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  16. Remove the EN 46101  from the spark plug tubes of the right cylinder head.

  18. Install the NEW spark plugs into the right cylinder head.

    Tighten:  Tighten the spark plugs to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  20. Install each ignition coil through the right camshaft cover into the spark plug tube taking care not to damage the spark plug and/or the seal in the right camshaft cover.
  21. Install each ignition coil bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ignition coil bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
