Transmission Fluid Level Inspection

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Clean any dirt from around the fill plug.

  3. Remove the transmission fill plug from the transmission.
    4. Fig 2: Checking Transmission Fluid Level

  4. Check that the transmission fluid level is even with the bottom of the fill plug hole.
  5. Add Dexron-III transmission fluid, if necessary.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the transmission fill plug to the transmission.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission fill plug to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
