Removal Procedure
CAUTION:
Refer to SIR CAUTION
- Disable the SIR. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE
- Remove the I/P center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) (BASE AND DHS) or COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) (DTS) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR (DTS, W/O UV8) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR (DTS WITH UV8) .
- Remove the left I/P outer trim cover. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) OUTER TRIM COVER REPLACEMENT - LEFT .
- Remove the right I/P outer trim cover. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) OUTER TRIM COVER REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
- Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER BRACKET REPLACEMENT - LEFT .
- Remove the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT (U1R, UM5, UM9) or RADIO REPLACEMENT (U3Q, U3R, U3S)
- Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the I/P storage compartment. Refer to STORAGE COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) .
- Remove the right I/P accessory trim plate. Refer TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY RIGHT .
- Remove the I/P screws (1) from each end of the I/P retainer.
- Remove the remaining bolts from the I/P retainer (1).
- Partially remove the I/P retainer (1) from the I/P carrier (2).
Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
- Guide the wiring through the I/P retainer openings as necessary.
- Remove the I/P retainer (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove the Inside air temperature sensor from the I/P retainer (1). Refer to INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
