Removal Procedure

If the retainer is to be replaced with a new retainer, the shipping strap (1) must be cut off the new retainer after installation of the retainer to the IP carrier.

  1. Remove the center console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR  .
  2. Remove the upper A/C vents.

  3. Remove the radio assembly. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT in Entertainment.
  4. Remove the Instrument panel (IP) compartment assembly. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P)  .
  5. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT  .
  6. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to DEFROSTER GRILLE REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Remove the left and right IP closeout panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - RIGHT  , and CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT  .
  8. Lower the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT in Steering Wheel and Column.
  9. Remove the bolts securing the lower retainer support bracket.

  10. Remove the screws securing the side of the retainer to the IP carrier.
  11. Remove the screws securing the lower center stack.

  12. Remove the screws behind the IP compartment securing the IP retainer to the IP carrier.

  13. Remove the screws securing the retainer to the to IP carrier.

  14. Remove the upper retainer to carrier screws.
  15. Remove the IP retainer.
