Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft.
  2. Install the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the lower intermediate shaft to the power steering gear retaining bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  4. Install the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft retaining bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.

  6. Unlock the steering column by removing J 42640  from the steering column lower trim cover access hole. See Special Tools and Equipment .
