Installation Procedure

  1. Install the Ignition switch to the IP retainer. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement (LHD)  or Ignition Switch Replacement (RHD) 
  2. Install the inside air temperature sensor to the IP retainer. Refer to AIR TEMPERATURE SENSORS .
  3. Partially install the IP retainer (1) to the carrier (2). Guide the wiring through the IP retainer openings.
  4. Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
  5. Connect the ignition switch electrical connectors.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the IP retainer (1) bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Turn the ignition to the run position.
  8. Align the park lock cable tab (1) with the ignition switch.
  9. Push the cable towards the ignition switch until an audible click is heard indicating the release button is engaged.

  10. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT .

  11. Install the IP retainer bolt (1) located in the opening for the fuel/rear compartment switch assembly.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  12. Install the HVAC duct/ IP retainer bolt (1), located below the HVAC duct, on the drivers side.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  13. Install the IP screw (1) at each end of the IP retainer.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  14. Install the fuel/rear compartment release switch. Refer to REAR COMPARTMENT LID SWITCH REPLACEMENT .
  15. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT (LHD) .
  16. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement 
  17. Install the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT (U1R, UL6, UM5, UM9) or RADIO REPLACEMENT (U3Q, U3R, U3S) .
  18. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement 
  19. Install the IP storage compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) 
  20. Install the left IP accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left (LHD)  or Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Left (RHD) 
  21. Install the right IP accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right (LHD)  or Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right (RHD) 
  22. Install the IP outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Outer Trim Cover Replacement 
  23. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement (w/o UV8)  or Console Replacement (with UV8)

  24. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PRO .
  25. Enable the SIR. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
