Park Brake Cable: Installation

  1. Install the front park brake cable into the park brake pedal assembly. Rotate the park brake cam to its original position.
  2. Install the park brake assembly to the mounting studs. Install the lever attaching nuts. Tighten the park brake attaching nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the cable and grommet into the floor pan. Raise the vehicle. Reconnect the front cable to the cable connector. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Reposition the carpet. Install the left sound insulator. Install the left carpet retainer.


  1. Route and install the intermediate park brake cable into park brake cable connector. Install the intermediate park brake cable to the equalizer. Connect the right rear park brake cable to the intermediate park brake cable.
  2. Insert the intermediate park brake cable into the park brake cable connector. Lower the vehicle.


  1. Install the left park brake cable to the park brake cable support bracket. Press the left park brake cable into the park brake cable support bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  2. Connect the left park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever. Install the left park brake cable into the left brake caliper park brake cable bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  3. Connect the left park brake cable to the equalizer. Connect the intermediate park brake cable to the park brake cable connector.
  4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.


  1. Install the right park brake cable to the park brake cable support bracket. Press the right park brake cable into the park brake cable support bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated. Connect the intermediate park brake cable connector to the right park brake cable.
  2. Connect the right park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever. Install the right park brake cable to the caliper park brake cable bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  3. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable near the park brake cable connector. Connect the intermediate park brake cable to the park brake connector.
  4. Install the right tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle.
