Disc Brake Backing Plate: Removal

  1. Release the park brake. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Remove the brake caliper and mounting bracket as an assembly. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER  .
  2. Pull down on the front park brake cable and remove the intermediate cable from the connector. Remove the park brake cable from the brake caliper lever. Remove the park brake cable from the mounting bracket by depressing the locking tabs.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR  . Remove the hub and bearing assembly. See appropriate REAR SUSPENSION article in SUSPENSIONS. Remove the park brake shoe. See PARK BRAKE SHOE  .
  4. Remove the backing plate bolts. Remove the backing plate.
