Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the I/P assembly. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  2. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal assembly. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the stoplight/ABS/shift lock switch. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the TCC/cruise control release switch.
  3. Remove the stoplight/ABS/shift lock switch. Remove the TCC/cruise control release switch.
  4. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retainer clip from the brake pedal assembly clevis pin. Remove the foam spacer from the brake pedal assembly clevis pin. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster push rod from the brake pedal assembly clevis pin.
  5. Remove the brake pedal assembly mounting to cowl stud nuts. Remove the brake pedal assembly mounting nuts from the booster studs. Remove the pedal assembly.
