Test U: High Beam Indicator Always On

  1. If lighting systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If lighting systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform LIGHTING SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. NOTE: Ensure transmission is in Park to not accidentally turn on daytime running lights.
  3. Turn headlight switch to HEAD position. Place dimmer switch in high beam position. Place dimmer switch in low beam position. If headlight high beam does not remain illuminated, go to next step. If headlight high beam remains illuminated, repair headlight high beam as necessary. See appropriate HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
  4. If high beam indicator remains illuminated, go to next step. If high beam indicator does not remain illuminated, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  5. Inspect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair IPC harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  6 .
  6. Replace IPC, then go to next step.
  7. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
