Test N: Door Ajar Indicator Always On
- If door systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Review operation of door ajar message to verify complaint. See DOOR AJAR INDICATORS under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION (INDICATOR/WARNING MESSAGE). If door ajar message does not operate as described, go to next step. If door ajar message operates as described, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Close all doors. Using scan tool, observe suspect door ajar switch parameter in Driver's Door Module (DDM) inputs data list. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to next step. If scan tool displays OFF, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect suspect door lock actuator harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe door ajar switch parameter. If scan tool does not display OFF, go to next step. If scan tool displays OFF, go to step 7 .
- Inspect suspect door ajar signal circuit for a short to ground between ground and suspect door lock actuator harness connector terminal (Gray/Black wire for driver's door, Black/White wire for passenger's front door, Light Blue/Black wire for both rear doors). If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Gray/Black wire, Black/White wire or Light Blue/Black wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Inspect suspect door module harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 8 . If problem exists, repair suspect door module harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Inspect suspect door lock actuator harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 9 . If problem exists, repair suspect door lock actuator as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace suspect door module. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace suspect door lock actuator. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2 .
