Test Ad: Seat Belt Indicator Circuit Malfunction
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position, and observe fasten seat belt indicator. If fasten seat belt indicator does not operate correctly, go to next step. If fasten seat belt indicator operates correctly, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Buckle driver's seat belt. Using scan tool, observe driver's side belt status parameter in Supplement Inflatable Restraint (SIR) data list. If scan tool indicates driver's side belt status parameter as BUCKLED, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate driver's side belt status parameter as BUCKLED, go to step 4 .
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). After repair, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) 32-pin harness connector. SDM is located below passenger's front seat. Disconnect driver's seat belt switch harness connector. Inspect Black/White wire for an open or high resistance between SDM harness connector terminal A15 and driver's seat belt switch harness connector terminal "B". If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Black/White wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Inspect Black wire for an open or high resistance between ground and driver's seat belt switch harness connector terminal "A". Ground point is located below passenger's front seat, near SDM. If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Black wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 7 .
- Replace driver's seat belt pretensioner. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2 .
NOTE:
Seat belt switch is part of seat belt pretensioner, and cannot be serviced separately.
