Test Aa: Low Washer Fluid Indicator Malfunction

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe low washer fluid indicator. If low washer fluid indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If low washer fluid indicator illuminates, go to step  4 .
  2. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "B" (Black/White wire). Wait 2 1/2 minutes. If low washer fluid indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low washer fluid indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminals "A" (Black wire) and "B" (Black/White wire). Wait 2 1/2 minutes. If low washer fluid indicator illuminates, go to step  7 . If low washer fluid indicator does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  4. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector. Wait 2 1/2 minutes. If low washer fluid indicator turns off, go to next step. If low washer fluid indicator does not turn off, go to step  7 .
  5. Inspect Black/White wire for a short to ground between ground and windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "B". If problem does not exist, go to step  8 . If problem exists, repair Black/White wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  12 .
  6. Inspect Black/White wire for an open or high resistance between windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "B" and Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector C2 terminal B5. If problem does not exist, go to step  8 . If problem exists, repair Black/White wire as necessary. After repair, go to step  12 .
  7. Inspect windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step  11 . If problem exists, repair windshield washer fluid level switch harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  12 .
  8. Inspect IPC harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step  11 . If problem exists, repair IPC harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step  12 .
  9. Repair open or high resistance in Black wire between ground and windshield washer fluid level switch. Ground point is located on right front corner of engine compartment. After repair, go to step  12 .
  10. Replace windshield washer fluid level switch. After repair, go to step  12 .
  11. Replace IPC, then go to next step.
  12. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  2 .
