Test Ac: Malfunction Indicator Light Inoperative
- If engine controls diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine controls diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ENGINE CONTROL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Remove and inspect IGN 1 fuse from rear fuse block. Rear fuse block is located below left seat cushion. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, go to step 10 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Blue 80-pin harness connector C1. PCM is located below air cleaner housing. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between ground and PCM harness connector C1 terminal No. 32 (Brown/White wire). See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). If MIL does not illuminate, go to next step. If MIL illuminates, go to step 9 .
- If 3-amp fused jumper wire did not blow, go to next step. If 3-amp fused jumper wire blew, go to step 11 .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument panel. Disconnect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector C2. Inspect Brown/White wire for an open between PCM harness connector C1 terminal No. 32 and IPC harness connector C2 A8. See Figure and Figure . If problem does not exist, go to next step. If problem exists, repair Brown/White wire as necessary. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Connect a test light between ground and IPC harness connector C2 terminal A3 (Pink wire). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 8 .
- Repair open in Pink wire between IPC and rear fuse block. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Inspect IPC harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 12 . If problem exists, repair IPC harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Inspect PCM harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 13 . If problem exists, repair PCM harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Repair short to ground in Pink wire between IPC and rear fuse block. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Repair short to voltage in Brown/White wire between PCM and IPC. After repair, go to step 14 .
- Replace IPC, then go to step 14 .
- Replace PCM. Program PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under PROGRAMMING. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2 .
