Test AF: Traction Control Indicator Always On

If anti-lock brake system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If anti-lock brake system diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe Traction Control System (TCS) warning indicator/message parameter in Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP)/Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)/TCS data list. If scan tool displays as OFF, go to next step. If scan tool does not display as OFF, go to step 4 .
Cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN position. Observe TCS indicator during bulb check. If TCS indicator illuminates during bulb check and does not turn off, go to step 5 . If TCS indicator illuminates during bulb check and turns off, inspect for intermittents. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
Inspect Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 6 . If problem exists, repair EBCM harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .
Inspect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector for poor connections. If problem does not exist, go to step 7 . If problem exists, repair IPC harness connector as necessary. After repair, go to step 8 .

CAUTION: An unprogrammed EBCM will result in an inoperative or poorly functioning DRP/ABS/TCS/VSES/VES, and will store DTCs C1248 and C1255m3.

Replace EBCM. Program EBCM, using latest software in Techline Terminal/Equipment. Follow manufacturer's instructions. After repair, go to step 8 .
Replace IPC, then go to next step.
Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2 .
