DTC P1617: Engine Oil Level Switch Circuit: Description
Engine oil level switch grounds when oil level is at correct level. With ignition switch turned to RUN position, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) should detect full oil level or a low voltage on signal circuit of engine oil level switch. With engine running, PCM should detect a transition from a low voltage to a high voltage on signal circuit of engine oil level switch. When PCM detects that signal circuit of engine oil level switch is low, does not detect a switch transition with engine running, and exists for 8 seconds or more DTC will be stored. When DTC is stored, PCM records operating conditions at time when diagnostic test fails. DTC becomes history when condition for storing DTC no longer exists. A history DTC is cleared after 40 malfunction free warm-up cycles.
