Charging System Indicators: Notes

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) illuminates charge indicator when this occurs:

• Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that generator output is less than 11 volts, or 16 volts or more. IPC receives a class 2 message from PCM requesting illumination.
• IPC determines that system voltage is less than 11 volts, or 16 volts or more. IPC receives a class 2 message from Dash Integration Module (DIM), indicating system voltage.
• IPC performs a displays test at start of each ignition cycle. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
