Brake System Indicators: Brake

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) illuminates BRAKE indicator and sends a class 2 message to activate an audible warning when this occurs:

• IPC detects that park is applied (signal circuit is low).
• IPC detects a low brake fluid condition (signal circuit is low).
• EBCM detects a malfunction with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). IPC receives a class 2 message from EBCM requesting illumination.
• IPC detects a loss of communications with EBCM and discrete back-up ABS indicator signal is open.
• IPC performs a displays test at start of each ignition cycle. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.
