Fasten Safety Belt Warning

Radio activates fasten safety belt audible warning as requested by Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). IPC sends a class 2 message to radio indicating chime frequency (slow rate) and duration (8 seconds). Fasten safety belt warning sounds and fasten safety belt indicator illuminates when this occurs:

• Ignition switch is turned to RUN position.
• Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) detects that driver's seat belt is not buckled (signal is low). IPC receives a class 2 message from SDM indicating driver's seat belt status.

If seat belt is buckled when ignition switch is turned to RUN position, chime does not sound. If seat belt is buckled while chime is sounding, chime stops. If seat belt is unbuckled after initial ignition switch is turned to RUN position, chime does not sound.
