Test H: Check Washer Fluid Indicator Always On
- Check operation of wiper/washer system. If wiper/washer system operates properly, go to next step. If wiper/washer system does not operate properly, go to WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM - DEVILLE article.
- Verify windshield washer reservoir is full. Turn ignition on. Wait one minute. If LOW WASHER FLUID message is displayed on driver information center, go to next step. If LOW WASHER FLUID message is not displayed on driver information center, check for faulty connections at washer fluid level switch harness connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector located on top of washer fluid reservoir. Turn ignition on. Observe WASHER FLUID LEVEL parameter in driver's information center. If LOW WASHER FLUID message is displayed on driver's information center, go to next step. If LOW WASHER FLUID message is not displayed on driver's information center, go to step 5.
- Check for short to ground in Black/White wire between washer fluid level switch harness connector terminal "B" and IPC connector C2 terminal B5. See Figure and Fig 1. If no problems are found, go to step 6. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step 7.
- Washer fluid level switch is not serviceable, replace washer fluid reservoir. See WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID LEVEL SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step 7.
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- After repairs, recheck operation of LOW WASHER FLUID message. If message operates properly, repair is complete. If message does not operate properly, return to step 2.
