Test Ar: Traction Control Indicator Always On/Inoperative

If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, see ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS.
Inspect ground connection located in left front of engine compartment, on left side of radiator support for Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and ensure ground is clean and tight. If connection is okay, go to next step. If faulty connection is found and repaired, go to step 9.
Using scan tool, select DRP/ABS/TCS data list. Observe TCS WARNING INDICATOR/MESSAGE parameter. If TCS WARNING INDICATOR/MESSAGE parameter is OFF, go to next step. If TCS WARNING INDICATOR/MESSAGE parameter is not OFF, go to step 5.
Turn ignition off and back on. This will activate Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) bulb check. Observe TRACTION CONTROL indicator during bulb check. If TRACTION CONTROL indicator illuminates during bulb check and then turns off, go to next step. If TRACTION CONTROL indicator does not illuminate during bulb check, go to step 6.
Check for poor connections at Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) connector. See Figure. If no problems are found, go to step 7. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step 9.
Check for poor connections at Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector. If no problems are found, go to step 8. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step 9.
Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step 9.
Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
After repairs, recheck operation of indicator. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, return to step 2.
