Test Ag: Night Vision Display Always On
- Operate night vision system. See NIGHT VISION under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If any problems exist, go to next step.
- Position vehicle approximately 25 feet (8 meters) from the nearest object. Cover windshield with a mat. Cover ambient light sensor. Turn ignition on. Turn head-up display (HUD) on. Turn twilight sentinel off. Turn headlights off. Turn front fog lights off. If night vision video image turns off, go to next step. If night vision video image does not turn off, go to step 4.
- Turn headlight on. Turn HUD off. If night vision video image turns off, check for faulty connections between HUD control unit, HUD switch and night vision camera. If night vision video image does not turn off, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition off. Connect a scan tool. Turn ignition on. Observe HUD DIMMING parameter in INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE (IPM) NON-HVAC data list. If HUD DIMMING parameter does not display ON, go to next step. If HUD DIMMING parameter displays ON, go to step 10.
- Check for short to ground in Orange wire between HUD control unit harness connector terminal "A" and Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM) harness connector C2 terminal B12. Figure and Fig 1
. If no problem was found, go to step 9. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect HUD switch. Turn ignition on. Connect a fused jumper wire (3-amp) between ground and head-up display switch terminal "E" (Light Blue wire). See Fig 2. If night vision video image does not turn off, go to next step. If night vision image turns off, go to step 11.
- Check for an open or short to voltage in Light Blue wire between HUD display switch harness connector terminal "E" and HUD control module harness connector terminal "G". See Fig 1 and Fig 2
. If no problem was found, go to next step. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for an open in Black wire between terminal "F" and ground (located front passenger's door jamb). If no problem was found, go to next step. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at HUD control module. If no problem was found, go to step 13. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at IPM harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at HUD switch harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 14. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Replace Instrument Panel Integration Module (IPM). See INSTRUMENT PANEL INTEGRATION MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement go to step 15.
- Replace HUD control module. See HUD MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement go to step 15.
- Replace HUD switch. See HUD SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement go to next step.
- Operate night vision in order to verify repair. If system operates correctly, system is okay at this time. If system does not operate correctly, go to step 2.
