Observe TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter. If TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter is OFF, go to next step. If TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter is not OFF, problem is intermittent, check wiring and connections.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect trunk lid release actuator connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between trunk lid release actuator connector terminals "B" (Black wire) and "C" (Red/Black wire). See Figure. Turn ignition on. Observe TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter. If TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter is not OFF, go to next step. If TRUNK AJAR SWITCH parameter is OFF, go to step  7.
  4. Check for open in Black wire between ground and trunk lid release actuator terminal "B". If no problems are found, go to next step. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step  10.
  5. Check for open, short to voltage or high resistance in Red/Black wire between trunk lid release actuator harness connector terminal "C" and RIM connector C1 terminal B3. See Figure and Figure . If no problems are found, go to next step. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step  10.
  6. Check for poor connections at RIM connectors. If no problems are found, go to step  8. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step  10.
  7. Check for poor connections at trunk lid release actuator connector. If no problems are found, go to step  9. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step  10.
  8. Replace RIM. See REAR INTEGRATION MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step  10.
  9. Replace trunk lid release actuator. See REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE SOLENOID under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER TRUNK & FUEL DOOR RELEASE - DEVILLE article.
