Test AJ: Night Vision Display Height Adjustment Inoperative
- Operate night vision system. See NIGHT VISION under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If any problems exist, go to next step.
- Position vehicle approximately 25 feet (8 meters) from the nearest object. Cover lower windshield with a mat. Cover ambient light sensor. Turn ignition on. Turn headlights on. Turn head-up display (HUD) on. Move the up and down button on the HUD module. If night vision image does not move up when the up button is depressed or move down when the down button is depressed, go to next step. If night vision image moves up when up button is depressed and moves down when the down button is depressed, problem is intermittent, check wiring and connections between HUD module and HUD switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect HUD module. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and HUD module harness connector terminal "D"(Brown wire). See Figure. If voltage is zero, go to next step. If voltage is not zero, go to step 7.
- Measure voltage between ground and HUD module harness connector terminal "C"(Pink wire). See Figure. If voltage is zero, go to next step. If voltage is not zero, go to step 8.
- Depress the down button on HUD switch. Measure voltage between ground and HUD module harness connector terminal "D" (Brown wire). If approximately 12 volts exists, go to next step. If approximately 12 volts does not exist, go to step 9.
- Depress the up button on HUD switch. Measure voltage between ground and HUD module harness connector terminal "C" (Pink wire). If approximately 12 volts exists, go to step 11. If approximately 12 volts does not exist, go to step 10.
- Check for a short to voltage in Brown wire between HUD module harness connector terminal "D" and HUD switch harness connector terminal "B". If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for a short to voltage in Pink wire between HUD module harness connector terminal "C" and HUD switch harness connector terminal "A". See Figure and Figure . If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for an open or short to ground in Brown wire between HUD module harness connector terminal "D" and HUD switch harness connector terminal "B". If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for an open or short to ground in Pink wire between HUD module harness connector terminal "C" and HUD switch harness connector terminal "A ". Figure and Figure . If no problem was found, go to step 12. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at HUD module harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 13. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 15.
- Check for faulty connections at HUD switch harness connector. If no problem was found, go to step 14. If a problem was found and corrected, go to step 13.
- Replace HUD module. See HUD MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, go to step 15.
- Replace HUD switch. See HUD SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, go to next step.
- Operate night vision in order to verify repair. If system operates correctly, system is okay at this time. If system does not operate correctly, return to step 2.
