Test A: Abs Indicator Always On/Inoperative

If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If ABS diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article.
Inspect ground connection for Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and ensure ground is clean and tight. Ground connection is located in left front of engine compartment, on left side of radiator support. If connection is okay, go to next step. If faulty connection is found and repaired, go to step 9.
Using scan tool, select DRP/ABS/TCS data list. Observe ABS WARNING INDICATOR parameter. If ABS WARNING INDICATOR parameter is OFF, go to next step. If ABS WARNING INDICATOR parameter is not OFF, go to step 5.
Turn ignition off and back on. This will activate Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) bulb check. Observe ABS indicator during bulb check. If ABS indicator illuminates during bulb check and then turns off, go to next step. If ABS indicator does not illuminate during bulb check, go to step 6.
Check for poor connections at EBCM connector. See Figure. If no problems are found, go to step 7. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step 9.
Check for poor connections at IPC connector. If no problems are found, go to step 8. If any problems are found and corrected, go to step 9.
Replace EBCM. See ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - DEVILLE article. After repairs, go to step 9.
Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
After repairs, recheck operation of ABS indicator. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, return to step 2.
