Description & Operation (Driver Information Center): Notes
The Driver Information Center (DIC) is used to display alpha-numeric information to driver and provide a method of displaying select vehicle information upon request and warning messages when necessary. DIC also allows driver to manually program certain functions of vehicle systems. Programmable systems include keyless entry, power door locks, memory systems, power seats and power mirrors. See PROGRAMMING . The DIC is a one line, 22 character, vacuum fluorescent (VF) display. DIC is located at lower edge of Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Functions of DIC are controlled by 6 switches, 3 on each side of IPC.
Driver Information Center (DIC) display messages include single-frame and multiple-frame messages. When more than one message is displayed, single-frame messages are displayed for 5 seconds with 1/2 second of non-display time between messages. Each frame of multiple-frame messages is displayed for 3 seconds with no non-display time in between. When the entire message is displayed, there is 1/2 second of non-display time before the next message is displayed. DIC messages can be displayed in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese under the LANGUAGE option of DIC.
Driver can navigate through various vehicle information parameters displayed on DIC using INFO Up and INFO Down buttons. When INFO Up button is pressed, DIC will display next parameter. When INFO Down button is pressed, DIC will display previous parameter. Some parameters can be reset using INFO RESET button. When blank screen is currently displayed and INFO Up button is pressed, DIC will display outside temperature.
