DTC B3172, B3177, B3182, B3187, B3192, B3197, B3282, B3287 Or B3292: Passenger Window Circuits Low: Testing

  1. If door systems diagnostic systems check has been performed, go to next step. If door systems diagnostic systems check has not been performed, perform DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe WINDOW SWITCH parameter in INPUTS list from passenger door module which set DTC. If parameter displays IDLE, go to next step. If parameter does not display IDLE, go to step  4 .
  3. Using scan tool, observe WINDOW SWITCH parameter in INPUTS list from suspect door module. Activate suspect passenger window switch. If parameter changes state, problem may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittents, see PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If parameter does not change state, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect suspect window switch 5-pin harness connector. Passenger window switches are located in appropriate door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe WINDOW SWITCH parameter in INPUTS list from suspect door module. If parameter displays IDLE, go to step  7 . If parameter does not display IDLE go to next step.
  5. Check for short to ground in suspect window switch signal circuit(s) of appropriate passenger door window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  10 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
  6. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect passenger door control module. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  10 . If no problem is found, go to step  8 .
  7. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect passenger window switch. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  10 . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace suspect passenger door module. See DOOR MODULES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  10 .
  9. Replace suspect passenger window switch. See WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  10. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate power mirror system within code enable criteria. See CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  . If DTC does not reset, testing is complete. If DTC resets, go to step  2 .
