DTC B3172, B3177, B3182, B3187, B3192, B3197, B3282, B3287 Or B3292: Passenger Window Circuits Low: Description

Window switch that failed and generated this Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is mounted on one of the passenger doors and wired to appropriate door module, Passenger Front Door Module (PDM), Left Rear Door Module (LRDM), or Right Rear Door Module (RRDM). When switch is activated, appropriate passenger door module examines switch signal and determines if conditions are correct for window function to occur. If conditions are correct, door module then supplies power and ground to appropriate window motor and circuits to operate window. Window motors are reversible. When an up movement is requested, module applies battery voltage to up circuit and ground to down circuit. When a down movement is requested, module reverses polarity, and applies battery voltage to down circuit, and ground to up circuit.

DTC sets when, PDM, LRDM, or RRDM detects that its associated window switch is closed for more than 15 continuous seconds.

When DTC sets, action taken depends on which switch contacts are closed:

PDM, LRDM, or RRDM clears current DTC when switch message is no longer received.
