Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) SERVICE ENGINE SOON or CHECK ENGINE when PCM detects a malfunction in emissions system. PCM performs bulb display test at the start of each ignition cycle. Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds, when ignition switch is in RUN position.
