DTC C0577, C0578, C0579, C0582, C0583, C0584, C0587, C0588, C0589, C0592, C0593 Or Co594: Actuator Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

  1. Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
  2. Install scan tool. Turn ignition switch on. Using scan tool, command Damper Actuator of suspected actuator ON and OFF. If actuator responded on and off with each command, check for intermittent and poor connections in wiring system. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If actuator did not turn on and off with each command, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect suspect actuator harness connector. Turn ignition switch on. Connect test light between a good ground and damper actuator control circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  4. Connect a test light between actuator terminals. Using scan tool, command actuator ON and OFF. If test light turns on and off with each command, go to step  8 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  5. If test light remained illuminated with each on and off command, go to step 7 . If test light did not remain illuminated with each on and off command, go to next step.
  6. On DeVille and Seville models, check suspect actuator control circuit for an open. On Eldorado models, check actuator ground circuit for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . On all models, if an open was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If an open was not found, go to step  9 .
  7. On DeVille and Seville models, check actuator control circuit for a short to ground. On Eldorado models, check actuator ground circuit for a short to ground. On all models, if a short to ground was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a short to ground was not found, go to step  9 .
  8. Check for poor connection at actuator harness connector. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step 11 .
  9. Check control module harness connector for a poor connection. If a poor connection was found and repaired, go to step  13 . If a poor connection was not found, go to step  12 .
  10. Repair actuator control circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . When repair is complete, go to step  13 .
  11. Replace affected shock absorber or strut assembly. See SHOCK ABSORBER/STRUT ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If replacement is complete, go to step  13 .
  12. Replace control module. See ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Calibrate NEW control module. See CALIBRATING ESC/CVRSS CONTROL MODULE  under ADJUSTMENTS. If replacement is complete, go to next step.
  13. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle under normal driving conditions. If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay.
