DTC B2419: Twilight Sentinel Photo Sensor Malfunction: Description

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives an input from ambient light sensor. IPC supplies ground for sensor through sensor return circuit. Ambient light sensor is a variable resistor. When light increases, resistance decreases. When light decreases, resistance increases.

IPC will set DTC B2419 anytime it detects that ambient sensor counts are less than one or greater than 254 for 3 seconds. When DTC is set, IPC will assume ambient light level is dark and send signals accordingly. DTC will clear when IPC sees that ambient light sensor input voltage is within valid range. Scan tool can also be used to manually clear DTC.
