High Beam Indicator Always On/Inoperative
- If lighting diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If lighting diagnostic system check was not performed, go to LIGHTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Check operation of high beams. If high beams operate properly, go to next step. If high beams do not operate properly, diagnose high beam circuit. See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) SPECIAL FUNCTIONS and perform DISPLAY(S) TEST. Monitor high beam indicator during test. If high beam indicator comes on during test and then turns off, check for intermittent circuits and connections for high beams. If high beam indicator does not come on during test and then turn off, go to next step.
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- After repairs, recheck operation of indicator. If indicator operates properly, repair is complete. If indicator does not operate properly, go to step 2 .
