Check Washer Fluid Message Always On

  1. Check operation of wiper/washer system. If wiper/washer system operates properly, go to next step. If wiper/washer system does not operate properly, go to WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM - BONNEVILLE, DEVILLE & LESABRE article.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) data list. Monitor WASHER FLUID LEVEL status. If WASHER FLUID LEVEL status is OK, go to next step. If WASHER FLUID LEVEL status is not OK, check for intermittent connections or faulty circuit for washer fluid level switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect windshield washer fluid level switch connector located on top of washer fluid reservoir. Turn ignition on. Monitor WASHER FLUID LEVEL status. If WASHER FLUID LEVEL status is OK, go to next step. If WASHER FLUID LEVEL status is not OK, go to step  6 .
  4. Check for short to ground in Black/White wire between washer fluid level switch and IPC connector C2 terminal B5. See Figure . If circuit is okay, go to next step. If faulty circuit is found and repaired, go to step  9 .
  5. Check for poor connections at IPC connector. If connections are okay, go to step  7 . If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to step  9 .
  6. Check for poor connections at washer fluid level switch connector. If connections are okay, go to step  8 . If faulty connections are found and repaired, go to step  9 .
  7. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  9 .
  8. Washer fluid level switch is not serviceable, replace washer fluid reservoir. After repairs, go to next step.
  9. After repairs, recheck operation of CHECK WASHER FLUID message. If message operates properly, repair is complete. If message does not operate properly, go to step  2 .
