Test M: Low Engine Oil Level Indicator Inoperative
- If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Disconnect engine oil level sensor harness connector. Road test vehicle for about 1/2 mile. If low engine oil level indicator turns on, go to next step. If low engine oil level indicator does not turn on, go to step 4 .
- Replace engine oil level sensor. Go to step 5 .
- Check for short to ground in Brown/Green wire between engine oil level sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 and gauge cluster harness connector terminal No. 4. See Figure . Repair circuit as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace gauge cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If symptom still exists, go to step 2 . If symptom does not exist, system is okay.
