Code C1787: RTD Body Relay Short To Ground/Open Circuit
- Perform CVRSS system check. See CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . After performing CVRSS system check, go to next step.
- Remove and check 10-amp RSS fuse (battery fuse) in trunk compartment fuse block. Fuse is hot at all times. If fuse is blown, go to step 7 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Install 10-amp RSS fuse (battery fuse). Turn ignition off. Remove RTD BODY relay. Using DVOM, measure voltage between RSS fuse coil circuit (Orange wire) of RTD BODY relay connector (socket of trunk compartment relay center) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 10 .
- Remove RTD BODY relay. Using DVOM, measure resistance between coil terminals of RTD BODY relay (component side). If resistance is 50-125 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 50 ohms or more than 125 ohms, go to step 12 .
- Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C1. Check for open or poor connection in damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire). If open or poor connection is present, go to step 11 . If circuit and connection are okay, go to next step.
- Check for short to ground in damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, go to step 8 .
- Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C1. Check for short to ground in the following circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- RTD BODY relay input circuit (Orange wire).
- RSS fuse coil circuit (Orange wire).
- RTD BODY relay output circuit (Dark Blue wire).
- Left front damper actuator ground circuit (Light Green wire).
- Right front damper actuator ground circuit (Brown wire).
- Left rear damper actuator ground circuit (Red/Black wire).
- Right rear damper actuator ground circuit (Purple wire).
If a short to ground is present on any circuit, go to step 9 . If circuits are okay, go to step 13 .
- Check all connections on RTD BODY relay input circuit (Orange wire), RSS fuse coil circuit (Orange wire), and damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire) for debris, corrosion and/or intermittent open. Check damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire) for intermittent short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Clear codes. Display codes. If Code C1787 is set, go to step 14 . If Code C1787 is not set, see NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair short to ground in affected circuit. After repairs, go to step 13 .
- Repair open in RSS fuse coil circuit (Orange wire).
- Repair open in damper relay enable circuit (Light Blue/White wire).
- Replace RTD BODY relay.
- Replace 10-amp RSS fuse (battery fuse).
- Turn ignition off. Replace CVRSS control module. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Calibrate NEW CVRSS control module. See CALIBRATING CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
