Code C1786: RTD Body Relay Fault
- Perform CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . After performing CVRSS system check, go to next step.
- If Code C1787 or C1788 is set, go to applicable code for diagnosis. See CODE DESCRIPTION table under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If Code C1787 or C1788 is not set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using DVOM, backprobe measuring voltage at RTD BODY relay output circuit (Dark Blue wire) of CVRSS control module connector C1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 10 . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove RTD BODY relay. Using DVOM, measure voltage at RTD BODY relay input circuit (Orange wire) of RTD BODY relay connector (socket of trunk compartment relay center). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 6 .
- Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C1. Check continuity between RTD BODY relay output circuit (Dark Blue wire) of RTD BODY relay connector (socket of trunk compartment relay center) and CVRSS control module harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to step 8 . If continuity does not exist, go to step 7 .
- Repair open in RTD BODY relay input circuit (Orange wire) or check for a blown 10-amp RSS fuse (battery fuse) in trunk compartment fuse block. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 9 .
- Repair open in RTD BODY relay output circuit (Dark Blue wire). Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 9 .
- Replace RTD BODY relay. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
- Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors.
- Turn ignition off. Replace CVRSS control module. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Calibrate NEW CVRSS control module. See CALIBRATING CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
