Code C1743: Speed Signal Fault
- Perform CVRSS system check. See CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . After performing CVRSS system check, go to next step.
- If Code P1642 is set, go to Code P1642 for diagnosis. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If Code P1642 is not set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C1. Disconnect 23-pin splice C205 connector located behind right side of instrument panel, near kick panel. Check continuity between vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire) of splice C205 connector (PCM side) and CVRSS control module harness connector C1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 6 .
- Check for intermittent open in vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire). If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear codes. Drive vehicle faster than 20 MPH for more than 10 seconds. Display codes. If Code C1743 is set, go to step 7 . If Code C1743 is not set, see NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Repair open in vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire).
- Turn ignition off. Replace CVRSS control module. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Calibrate NEW CVRSS control module. See CALIBRATING CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS.
