Tie Rod (Toe Link): Installation

  1. Install toe-link-to-suspension-support bolt and nut. Install the NEW toe link outer bolt. Do not tighten bolt at this time.
  2. Support outboard end of the lower control arm with a screw jack in order to bring the suspension in design position (ride height). The toe link must be tightened in design position in order to reduce wind up in the bushings.
  3. Tighten the outer toe link bolt and then the inner toe link nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedures. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Perform a rear wheel alignment after removal and installation of the toe link. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES - CARS - EXCEPT SATURN article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
