Lower Control Arm: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies.
  2. Support the inboard end of the lower control arm with a transmission jack. Position the brackets on the jack in order to securely hold the control arm.
  3. Remove stabilizer link lower attachment at control arm. Remove the shock absorber lower attachment.
  4. Separate ball joint from lower control arm. Slowly lower the transmission jack in order to relieve the spring pressure.
  5. Pull the lower control arm down in order to remove the spring. Remove the inboard lower control arm nuts and bolts. See Figure. Remove lower control arm.
