Fuel Gauge Inaccurate Or Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect scan tool. Select view Rear Integration Module (RIM) DTCs. If DTC B0530, B0532 or B0533 are current, go to BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If DTCs are not present, go to next step.
  2. Select RIM data function on scan tool. If scan tool indicates fuel tank has same amount as gauge, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicates fuel tank has same amount as gauge, go to step 6).
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect fuel level sending unit connector. Use appropriate dial gauge tester and set to 40 ohms (empty). Connect gauge tester between fuel level sender connector terminals "D" (Black/White wire) and "A" (Purple wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Move fuel gauge tester between 40 and 250 ohms. If fuel gauge reads EMPTY, and then FULL, go to step 5). If gauge does not read EMPTY, and then FULL, go to next step.
  4. Check for poor connections at RIM connector C2 and connector C404. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If connections are okay, replace RIM. See REAR INTEGRATION MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  5. Check for poor connections at fuel level sender connector. Repair if necessary. If connections are okay, replace fuel level sender. Recheck system operation.
  6. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
